My Animation

Today we had to make an animation, but we had to learn how to to embed and make it loop without stopping. First embed the link and change all the "falses" to trues, then change the 3000 to 200 or what ever speed you want.

Today we had to make a Word Art on our sking that we did yesterday.
We had to atleast have 30 words, then but it into the website called Wordart.

How To Reduce Plastic Waste

The last two weeks we have been learning about plastic. On our rubbish topic we also thought it would be cool to make beeswax wraps and fabric bags. We made our beeswax wrap so that we could replace glad wrap in our lunchbox. Our fabric bags are good for the environment, you can use them in supermarkets or any where else. 

I enjoyed making both of theses things because I use them a lot. 

How to make beeswax wrap: Put baking paper down then put cotton down on the baking paper now grate beeswax, and sprinkle it on the cotton, then put another piece of baking paper down on the cotton. The last part is to get an iron and melt all the beeswax; after the beeswax is all melted you put it on a rack and let it dry for a minute.

Recycling is a good idea because, it reduces  the amount of waste that is put into the
environment so that you can use your materles again.

OIl is formed from the remains  of plant and animals that lived millions of years ago. The dead
plants and animals were covered by mud and sand and over millions of years the mud and sand
built up in layers and hardened and turned into rocks. The heat and pressure from the rocks
turned the dead plant and animal matter into oil

7) What are some of the things glass can be recycled into?

Glass can be turned into jars and bottles some glass can be turned into glass creet and glass
felt to be used to make roads

8) What are some of the things cardboard can be recycled into

Cardboard can be recycled into newsprint,toilet paper,writing paper and egg cartons.

9) What can plastic with the number 1 be recycled into?

Number one can be recycled into carpet,clothing,sleeping bags and soft drink bottles

10)  Attach a google drawing here that explains how number 1 plastics can be turned into
clothing.

11) What are microfibres and what is the problem with them?

Microfibers are tiny fibers that come off our clothes and are going down the drain.
The problem with microfibers  is that they poisonous and sea life can eat them.

12) What is Earth Overshoot day?

Earth overshoot day is a day when people  have used all the earth's natural resources.

Atoms: the smallest particle of a substance that can exist by itself orbe combined with
other atoms

Carded: aligned in the same direction

Global Warming:

A gradual increases in earth's average temperature due to increased levels of greenhouse
gasses in atmosphere

Malt:

Natural resources:materials found in nature  that can be used by people,such as air,water,
plants,animals and rocks

Synthetic: something that is made by people and is the result if combining different chemical

In class we will be working on projects looking at issues around rubbish and what we can do
to help reduce this problem.

In class we have been learning about how much rubbish  is in our oceans and how we could reduce the waste in our lunch boxes. 

Task: Create an infographic showing people how they can reduce their waste in their lunchbox.   

Our co-constructed success criteria:

-Have a strong title/hook

Play Summary

Play Summary - Term 3 Weeks 1-2

For the next two weeks you are working in groups to practise and perform a
play. This is using our oral language and reading skills in literacy.
Our key competency focus is participating and contributing.

For writing your task is to summarise the main events in your play in
three paragraphs. You must plan your writing first but it is up to you how you
do your planning.  You must also write a fourth paragraph about your
experience of practising and performing your play.

In the first part of the story, Jack and his Mother are poor and they have a pet
cow. Jack's mother said, “Jack we need to sell our cow for some money.”
Jack said, “Ok I take him to town and sell him.”

In the second part of the story, Jack walked to the market; and and man said to
him, “Are you coming to town to sell that cow?” and Jack said, “Yes I am.” So
the old man said, “I'll give you some magic beans for the cow.” “Ok.” said Jack.

Jack went home and told his mother, and she was very angry and threw the
beans on the dirt and told him, “GO TO YOUR ROOM!” Jack went to his room
and fell asleep.

At the end of this story, the next morning Jack's mother ran into his room and
yelled in excitement, “LOOK OUTSIDE.” Jack got up and looked out his window
and saw a giant beanstalk.

He ran outside and climbed the beanstalk. When he got up there he stole
golden eggs and a golden hen from the gaint. Then when he was about to
climb down he heard a loud noise he looked up and saw  the giant, his mother
from down below grabbed a axe and chopped down the beanstalk and Jack
got down safely. Jack and his mother were rich because they had the hen.

Our teamwork was good because we worked well together and let each
other speak, and we all participated well and worked well to make props.
We brought in what we needed for the props and practiced well.

Quick Write~Beekeeper

Quick Write Number One - The Beekeeper

For the next two weeks we are going to work on ‘Quick Writes.’  This is where you are given something to write about (a writing prompt) and you only have 10mins to write as much as possible using this writing prompt.

For our writing prompts we will use either images or short videos.

The purpose of this is to practise writing fluently.

When we look at our writing prompt we will have about 10-15 mins to discuss it and brainstorm some ideas and vocabulary.   

Our learning goals are to:

-write a description, using powerful words and phrases

-include some Te Reo Māori

-carefully check that our sentences make sense and have correct punctuation and spelling.

When we are writing we need to think about…

1. What do I want my reader to see?

2) What do I want my reader to hear?

3) What do I want my reader to smell?

Tips:

-look closely at the picture or video

-think about the three key questions and the learning goals

-give yourself time to plan and write

It was a warm spring morning, and as I walked up to the beehive  I smelt the sweet smell of honey. As I carefully lifted up the frame my hands started shaking and, the bees started buzzing. I started pulling off bits of honeycomb  till it was all gone. I put the frame back into hive and the bees clung onto the frame like magnets.😊😁

The Best Inventer Ever

Every weekend there was one job Indi hated doing cleaning her room. She’d rather be building her latest robot invention in the shed, That's it!  What if Indi could build a robot who could clean her room! That day Indi went to her shed and found these things an old vacuum cleaner, rope, a new laundry basket, and old metal shapes to make the body.

That Friday night she stayed up all night building her robot. BANG, CLANK, CRASH these sounds were as loud as a gorilla all night! The next day her robot was built! Her father had been wondering where she was all night. When she came in her dad said “Kia ora Kei hea koe i te po katoa?”(Hello, where have you been all night?) “Well I was out in the shed,” “He pai.” (that’s ok) Indi went into the shed and grabbed her robot. She walked back into the house and went to her room and she grabbed her remote and said, “Your name is Motion.”

She pushed start on her remote and Motion burst into life! Indi  thought Motion was as clean as rainwater Indi no longer had to clean her room for weeks until….

One day when Indi came home from school her Papa said “He tino paru to rūma!” (Your room is a mess what happened?) Indi ran to her room as quick as she could, she opened the door and found Motion trashing her room with old clothes and rubbish from the bin! Indi tried pushing the off button on the remote but it wouldn’t work! Indi decided to brake Motion and fix him again. She finally stopped Motion and she broke him apart. She found out what happened after 3 hours of trying to figure out what had happened, she had overworked Motion! Indi Tried to fix Motion twice but Motion would not stop making a mess!

Indi tried once more and Motion worked! Motion was up and running again Motion cleaned up all of the mess he had made. Plus Motion got Indi's dad to speak english! Indi made a business out of Motion, and charged $20 an hour, and that worked! By the time she worked for two years she had reached a Million dollars!
